Smoothing down a Hunslet

It’s been on the to do list for quite some time. Recently I started work on the Five79 Hunslet kit.

So far all I’ve done is rub the parts down. I don’t use any fancy kit for this, metal files or such like. My favourite tool for this job is simply a nail file. I prefer these as they can be cut to shape easily and are as cheap as chips.

I’ve just worked on the main parts of the kit for now; the boiler tank, cab sides, roof and frame. I’ll work on the detailing parts next, once I’ve decided which bits to fit.

The picture above is purely a dry run of a few parts. I won’t be fixing anything together until I work out what alterations I need to make to the kit for it to fit the chassis. But, although it’s just a quick dry run, I’m already excited by how it looks!
